The Whirlpool

"Go!" shouts Mrs Hopkins and we all push through the still water.  As the flow started, the going was easier and easier.  I kept walking and was soon practically being pushed forwards.  "Wheeeee!" Mrs Hopkins blew her whistle and told us to turn around.  Gosh, I thought she had gone insane as we pushed against the never ending strength of the current.  We had barely made it to the corner of the pool before we were suddenly slowly swept forward as if by magic.  It felt like some god like Posidon had finally run out of energy to keep the current flowing against us.

Me and Lucas pushed into swimming and slowly the current turned again.  In at most, thirty seconds, we were able to go from one side of the pool to the other.  "Turn around!" shouted Mrs Hopkins.  Everyone braced themselves for the explosion of energy we would lose.  Seems like Posidon had decided to wake up.  The current hit me like a bomb.  I started swimming only to be puchsed backwards.  So I decided to drink a cup of concrete and stop being a kitten.  I mean I don't meow (or do I?).  I grabbed the rail and pulled myself along it.  Fwosh!  As soon as I had turned the corner and been expecting Posidon (the naughty god) to have not tired yet, I barreled forward at what seemed like a trillion miles per hour.  I put my feet down and found the ground and then I slipped on the wet concrete back into the water.  "Wheeee.  Turn around".  "What already?" I thought.  But even through we had turned around early the current made it still feel like I was wading through jelly, no silicon more like.  And a minute later we were riding the current like dolphine again.

Then "wheeee!" And Mrs Hopkins finally told us to stop. "Now for races!"  Everyone groaned.  "Into groups of ten please."  Mrs Hopkins is always so polite.

...... Thanks so much for the whirlpool.
